Course Focus and Learning Objectives

VetCE on Demand: The Physiology and Pharmacology of Euthanasia utilizes the archive of a live presentation under the same name.

Euthanasia is a process requiring more than just knowing how to give an injection. As with any procedure, it’s important to know how it works and how we achieve a peaceful passing. This course examines the physiology of death and discusses how the drugs used work on the body.

At the end of the course participants should be able to:

  • explain the stages of dying
  • recognize normal and abnormal reactions to drugs
  • explain how euthanasia drugs accomplish death
