Course Focus and Learning Objectives

VetCE on Demand: Dental Radiology Made Easy- Tips and Tricks for Great Rads utilizes the archive of a live presentation under the same name.

Dental radiographs are an essential part of the oral exam. The crown is just the tip of the iceberg. Approximately 42% of dental pathology is found subgingivally. Radiographs will help diagnose pathology that is not visible from the surface and confirm suspect pathology as well as help demonstrate the pathology to the client. Dental radiographs can improve the standard of care in your practice and increase your clinic’s revenue. This course will share methods to make taking dental radiographs a dream.

At the end of the course participants should be able to:

  • outline what constitutes a diagnostic dental radiograph
  • discuss simplified techniques to obtain dental radiographs
  • explain the importance of taking a full series at each COHAT

Participant Feedback

When asked what aspects of the course liked best some responses were:

...I loved being able to watch the presentation twice so I could jot down notes, then put the vidoe into action, then watch again to make sure I didn't miss any key points. The images were all very helpful.

...I always have issues taking radiographs in dorsal recumbency, but the pictures of positioning helped me visualize it better.

...I really enjoyed on the instructor explained the x-ray machine and also what % was to be used for certain teeth. Also the little tricks come in handy.

...It was done very nicely and hope to be able to take better dental radiographs because of it

...I've been acquiring radiographs in lateral position and learned how much quicker it will be with a patient in sternal and dorsal recumbency. Eager to try these positions out!
