Course Focus and Learning Objectives

Reproductive Emergencies in the Dog and Cat is a self-study course.

Life-threatening disorders of the reproductive system can occur in both male and female dogs and cats. Veterinary professionals must recognize these emergencies quickly because delays in treatment may threaten the life of the animal or the survival of the offspring. Veterinary professionals must also be familiar with medical and surgical interventions used to treat these conditions. This course seeks to educate professionals on prompt stabilization, early recognition, and appropriate options to significantly improve outcomes for both the patient and the offspring.

At the end of the presentation, the participant should be able to:

  • outline the reproductive emergencies that occur in male and female canine and feline patients.
  • explain the nursing and supportive care required when managing reproductive emergencies.
  • discuss how clinical findings influence decisions regarding dystocia management, including medical and surgical treatment.

Completion Requirements

The completion requirements for this course are:

  • complete the quiz with a score of 80% or better - multiple attempts are permitted
