NAVTA Journal CE Overview

The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) publishes The NAVTA Journal on a bi-monthly basis. Each issue contains an article approved by RACE for technicians. The applicable article is included within the course therefore access to The NAVTA Journal is not required to enroll. These articles are open to all members of the veterinary community for the fee stated in the payment area below.

RACE Approved For Veterinary Technicians/Nurses

Course meets the requirements for 1 RACE hours of continuing education credit for veterinary technicians in jurisdictions which recognize AAVSB's RACE approval. However, participants should be aware that some boards have limitations on the number of hours accepted in certain categories and/or restrictions on certain methods of delivery.

Course Focus and Learning Objectives

Mosquitoes - It’s Not Just About Heartworms Anymore is a self-study course.

This course examines the broader impact of mosquito-borne diseases beyond just heartworm, including their effects on a wide range of animals such as horses, livestock, and poultry. It emphasizes the economic implications for production animals and highlights the importance of discussing mosquito control during veterinary farm visits. It also explains the role of different mosquito species in transmitting diseases and the significance of understanding their life cycle to aid in prevention.

At the end of the presentation, attendees should be able to:

  • explain the role that mosquitos may play in disease spread among animals as well as zoonotically
  • recognize and point out areas of concern as potential mosquito breeding areas to be remediated
  • discuss with owners the remediation of areas that could potentially harbor mosquito larvae

 

Open Enrollment with Immediate Access and Individual Scheduling

This is an open enrollment course. Participants may enroll at any time. Upon submission of enrollment the participant is immediately added to the course. The course welcome email provides login and other important information.

This is an asynchronous course, meaning it does not contain real time components. Participants do not need to be logged into the course at specific times to attend lectures or view presentations. Participants do not need to complete the course in one sitting.

Completion Deadline:

Participants have 30 days from date of enrollment to view the presentation, as often as desired, as well as submit the two completion requirements outlined below. If after 30 days the completion requirements have not been submitted, the participant will be graded out of the course as incomplete.

 

Completion Requirements

The completion requirements for this course are:

  • complete the quiz with a score of 80% or better - multiple attempts are permitted
  • submit the course survey

Upon submission of the final completion requirement, the participant will automatically be marked as completed and the course completion email will be sent out. The participant will have immediate access to the certificate.
