The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) publishes The NAVTA Journal on a bi-monthly basis. Each issue contains an article approved by RACE for technicians. The applicable article is included within the course therefore access to The NAVTA Journal is not required to enroll. These articles are open to all members of the veterinary community for the fee stated in the payment area below.

RACE Approved For Veterinary Technicians/Nurses

Course meets the requirements for 1 RACE hours of continuing education credit for veterinary technicians in jurisdictions which recognize AAVSB's RACE approval. Course Focus and Learning Objectives

Exploring the Ins and Outs of Zoonoses in Reptiles and Amphibian Pets is a self study course.

Reptiles and amphibians continue to trend as popular pets and have found a niche with those who may not have the space or time to dedicate to a dog or cat. It is important that medical personnel as well as owners are aware of the potential health hazards and risks that are associated with these species in order to have a positive experience.

At the end of the presentation attendees should be able to:

  • outline the specific causes of reptile- and amphibian-associated zoonotic diseases in order to prevent infection while caring for these animals
  • effectively educate clients about disease transmission and prevention.

 

Open Enrollment with Immediate Access and Individual Scheduling

This is an open enrollment course. Participants may enroll at any time. Upon submission of enrollment the participant is immediately added to the course. The course welcome email provides login and other important information.

This is an asynchronous course, meaning it does not contain real time components. Participants do not need to be logged into the course at specific times to attend lectures or view presentations. Participants do not need to complete the course in one sitting.

Completion Deadline:

Participants have 30 days from date of enrollment to view the presentation, as often as desired, as well as submit the two completion requirements outlined below. If after 30 days the completion requirements have not been submitted, the participant will be graded out of the course as incomplete.

 

Completion Requirements

The completion requirements for this course are:

  • complete the quiz with a score of 80% or better - multiple attempts are permitted
  • submit the course survey

Upon submission of the final completion requirement, the participant will automatically be marked as completed and the course completion email will be sent out. The participant will have immediate access to the certificate.
