Veterinary Medicine: Radiology For Bone Lesions and Fractures in the Dog and Cat Diagnostic imaging is a vital component in the diagnosis and management of fractures. At initial presentation, fractures can be identified and classified to permit planning of optimal treatment. Fractures can be monitored to assess healing and identify developing complications. Fracture identification and radiographic description of fractures, along with evaluating fracture healing and complications of fracture repair, are of paramount importance for successful treatment. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: develop a working knowledge of proper positioning and technique for appendicular radiographs evaluate normal and abnormal anatomy of the appendicular skeleton recognize relevant radiographic anatomical landmarks recognize abnormalities and list potential causes as well as basic pathophysiology differentiate aggressive from non-aggressive bone lesions obtain quality images to identify and evaluate fractures utilize radiographs to assess healing and complications Completion requirements: Instructor Graded Interactive Critical Thinking and Case Scenario Assignments: Designed to help the participant apply the newly learned skills and knowledge via implementation-focused and patient-based scenarios provided by the instructor.
