Course Focus and Learning Objectives

VetCE on Demand:Stop Pain in its Tracks: Local Blocks for Every Practice utilizes the archive of a live presentation under the same name.

Local anesthetic drugs are very effective analgesics. They are also largely easy to use and inexpensive. The use of local/regional blocks improves anesthetic safety and provides analgesia, even after the expected duration of action of the drug. Blocks that can be used in any practice are covered in a step-by-step description, complete with videos.

At the end of the course participants should be able to:

  • explain the “super-power” of local anesthetic drugs in pain management
  • discuss analgesic plans that include local/regional anesthetic blocks.
  • outline how to perform the most commonly used local/regional blocks.
  • explain to the pet caregiver that your team provides the ultimate pain relief for their pets.
