Course Focus and Learning Objectives

VetCE on Demand: Are You Keeping Score? The Importance of Pain Scoring Systems utilizes the archive of a live presentation under the same name.

This course reviews current pain score scales and systems, including which ones are easiest to use and which are the most useful for dogs and cats. It also discusses why pain scoring is vital and the importance of choosing and implementing a pain scoring system for the patients in your hospital..

At the end of the course participants should be able to:

  • discuss pain pathways and the consequences of untreated pain.
  • identify different pain scoring systems for dogs and cats
  • recognize the importance of selecting a scoring system as part of practice protocols
  • explain the importance of recognizing and treating pain in a timely fashion.

Completion Requirements

The completion requirements for this course are:

  • complete the quiz with a score of 80% or better - multiple attempts are permitted
  • submit the course survey

Upon submission of the final completion requirement, the participant will automatically be marked as completed and the course completion email will be sent out. The participant will have immediate access to the certificate.
