Course Focus and Learning Objectives

VetCE on Demand: Canine Otitis Externa- Proper Work Up for This "Ear-Y" Occurrence utilizes the archive of a live presentation under the same name.

This course will discuss the proper evaluation of Canine Otitis Externa cases from the examination, slide preparations, and microscopic observations for proper diagnosis followed by common treatments for both short-term and long-term conditions.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the course participants should be able to:

  • discuss how to correctly prepare a slide for an Otitis Externa case
  • compare and contrast acute vs. chronic issues and the progress to chronic
  • outline how to determine appropriate treatment selection based on the individual case

Participant Feedback

When asked what aspects of the course liked best some responses were:

...It was helpful to see the ear cytology slides and hear how Dr. Wilson treats the findings.

...Always good to hear how other veterinarians approach a treatment plan on a problem that we see on a regular basis. There is always room for improvement.

...I really liked that there were slide examples of ear cytologies to look at and discuss the components. The speaker was very easy to engage with and stay on track.

...I liked the very practical approach. The suggestions made were easily attainable by the average veterinary practitioner.
