Course Focus and Learning Objectives

VetCE on Demand: Rabbits in General Practice - Breaking the “Exotic” Spell utilizes the archive of a live presentation under the same name.

This course is beneficial for all team members of a general practice which opens its doors to rabbits. It examines the rewards of serving rabbit-owning clients. The course emphasizes defining and following each team member's role and of working in unison, with the understanding that these roles and responsibilities can evolve as the team gains experience. Next, it examines building a network that comprises of other general practices that have ventured into rabbit medicine, veterinary specialists, and emergency practices that might be called upon to provide after-hours care for our rabbit patients, as well as rescue organizations/shelters. Lastly it outlines how to maximize the odds of successful outcomes of anesthesia and surgical procedures.

At the end of the course participants should be able to:

  • explain how a general practice can benefit from offering rabbit medicine
  • outline the expectations of rabbit owners
  • define and explain the roles of each team member in a general practice that sees rabbits
  • discuss how to build a rabbit-focused professional network and support system
  • explain how to minimize unpleasant surprises in the practice of rabbit medicine

 

Open Enrollment with Immediate Access and Individual Scheduling

This is an open enrollment course. Participants may enroll at any time. Upon submission of enrollment the participant is immediately added to the course. The course welcome email provides login and other important information.

This is an asynchronous course, meaning it does not contain real time components. Participants do not need to be logged into the course at specific times to attend lectures or view presentations. Participants do not need to complete the course in one sitting.

Completion Deadline:

Participants have 60 days from date of enrollment to view the presentation, as often as desired, as well as submit the two completion requirements outlined below. If after 60 days the completion requirements have not been submitted, the participant will be graded out of the course as incomplete.

 

Completion Requirements

The completion requirements for this course are:

  • complete the quiz with a score of 80% or better - multiple attempts are permitted
  • submit the course survey

Upon submission of the final completion requirement, the participant will automatically be marked as completed and the course completion email will be sent out. The participant will have immediate access to the certificate.
