Course Focus and Learning Objectives
VetCE on Demand: Complications of Dental Extractions: Avoiding and Dealing with Them utilizes the archive of a live presentation under the same name. The old adage “it’s like pulling teeth” arose for a reason. Extracting firmly rooted teeth is sometimes necessary, but there are many things that can go wrong. This course discusses the most common complications associated with dental extractions, including retrieving broken root tips, displaced roots into the nasal passage as well as mandibular canal, sialoceles, and iatrogenic mandibular fractures. It reviews how to avoid these complications and how to treat them when they do occur. At the end of the course participants should be able to: demonstrate the moat technique for retrieving root tips during dental extractions explain what to do in cases of unexpected bleeding during dental extractions demonstrate what to do when roots are dislodged into the nasal passage or mandibular canal give examples of the most likely situations that can result in iatrogenic mandibular fracture during extractions

Completion Requirements
The completion requirements for this course are: complete the quiz with a score of 80% or better - multiple attempts are permitted submit the course survey Upon submission of the final completion requirement, the participant will automatically be marked as completed and the course completion email will be sent out. The participant will have immediate access to the certificate.
