Online Testing Review Courses and the NAVTA Approved Veterinary Assistant Program Policy
New Policy effective 6-2026

The Approved Veterinary Assistant Committee of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America is aware that several online courses advertise themselves as preparation programs for the AVA Examination. NAVTA has not reviewed, approved, or endorsed any of these courses and does not guarantee their effectiveness in preparing candidates for the AVA Exam.

For students and graduates seeking additional study resources, VetMedTeam offers practice examinations designed to assist with AVA Exam preparation.

The NAVTA Approved Veterinary Assistant Examination is a proprietary assessment owned and administered by NAVTA. The NAVTA Approved Veterinary Assistant Committee believes that graduates of NAVTA-Approved Programs who engage in appropriate study and preparation are well equipped to successfully complete the examination.

This study option contains 8 sections containing a related practice exam. After an exam attempt is submitted, the questions answered correctly or incorrectly will be noted but the correct answer will not be provided.

If the first attempt in any given section has a passing grade of 80% or higher no further attempts are permitted. If the first attempt is not a passing grade 1 additional attempt is allowed. If both attempts are a failing grade no further attempts are permitted.
