The ABC's of CPR is an acronym reminder of what to do in an emergency situation, typically reserved for those patients in or near cardiopulmonary arrest (CPA). It can also be a good means of establishing the roles of veterinary personnel. Each team member can be designated to handle one of the ABC's in cases of emergency.
A= Airway (Is it patent?)
B= Breathing (Is there breathing?)
C= Circulation (Is there a pulse?)
D= Drugs (Epinephrine, Atropine, etc.)
E= EKG (Is there a rhythm?)
F= Fluids (Crystalloids, Colloids, etc)
