    Course Description
This 2 week course is designed specifically for the employee in a veterinary practice as an introduction to OSHA (the Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and OSH ACT (the Occupational Safety and Health Act). It is an overview that will give the student the “Who, What, Where, Why, and Basic How”. The student will learn OSHA terminology; how to perform a workplace hazard assessment; develop an emergency action plan specific to their practice environment; create secondary container labels; and many other related topics.

It is the first course in a two course series. This series is designed to take students from the basic introductory level to qualification as a Safety Officer. Even if the student is not to be the clinic's designated Safety Officer, the skills and knowledge gained through Basic Principles of OSHA Compliance will allow the student to be a contributing member of the practice Safety Team.

During an OSHA visit, the inspector will look for proof of staff training. This course has been specifically designed to help practices meet this requirement. It will help each staff member to understand the OSHA requirements so that they can be part of the compliance solution. For practice managers and staff members responsible for training, this course will provide the majority of your staff OSHA training.

This course is directly in line with Canada's Workplace Safety (OHSA) Protocols as well.

    Testimonials
... I truly cannot think of anything to improve the course for future students. I rate the course, the instructor, and materials A++++

... This course made me realize that I am making this more difficult than it needs to be - OSHA

... I liked the real simple, direct communication the information was written. Very easy to follow but yet I feel as though I gained a mountain of information.

... I thought the assignments were valuable as it made you not only gave you a chance to participate but also gave you the opportunity to take what you were being taught and apply it to your workplace and job.

... I started not knowing anything about OSHA. Now I understand a lot of the requirements and know I have alot of work to do in our clinic and in educating the staff.
