...Yes! Having the flexibility of an online course is a huge benefit, especially since I work full time and have other university work. It allows you to pace yourself at a speed that works for you, while also allowing you to practice self discipline to make sure you are staying on top of the work. In the summer I said goodbye to my dog, and the instructors were very lenient for providing me with an extension on one of my courses. Working full time + overtime through COVID also proved difficult to finding time
for the course, and once again the instructors were gracious to provide extra time whenever it was needed.
...Absolutley. As said before I had wished I knew of the program sooner. I deeply appreciate that a lot of general practice clinics will hire almost anyone without experience, however I believe courses like this should be required for assistants who wish to continue in this field after 1 year of employment. You can learn so much on the job, but school studies bring another light that broadens knowledge for everyone involved.
...I definitely would recommend this program. It was very feasible to complete during my academic school year and I feel I have the knowledge to start working in a veterinary practice.
...Yes absolutely! I went out on a limb with this program because there was not much information or reviews, but i am so glad i did!! This program cost a small fraction of other programs that offer the same exact thing! Not only that but this program is accredited by the NAVTA and you qualify to take the exam to be an approved veterinary assistant! Now i do have to say, discipline is key when doing this program, you study at your own pace but you do have a deadline and no one but yourself to remind you. If anyone
is considering this program but is hesitant or doubtful, don't be just go for it! you won't regret it!
...Yes, I would absolutely recommend this program! It was one of the best decisions I have made lately, and it was an invaluable experience. I feel the theoretical part is so important, and combined with the externship, this program gave me all the necessary skills and made me extremely confident to continue my journey in the veterinary field. It provided me with a well-rounded education, and I am super excited that this program is offered online and that I had the opportunity of taking part in it.

...Yes I would highly recommend this program to others, it is great for working adults, or single parents the work at your own pace was great when having a busy schedule. This was one of the most fun courses for any kind of learning I've done.
...I would defiantly recommended this program to anyone looking to get their foot in the door in the veterinarian field. I loved going into my clinic experience already having some knowledge so i could learn more during my time there. I was also offered a job my last day.

...Completion of the program has deepened my knowledge base. It has filled in a lot of the gaps in knowledge. I've worked as an assistant for 1 1/2 years.
...I believe that the subject matter and assignments line up great and it really did prepare me for my time at my clinical. I thought that the related free course assignments were helpful but could be very time consuming but you did not have to finish them in one sitting. My instructors were always super helpful and responded really quickly. I do not believe anything needs improved other than maybe an actual email to get to instructors other than just the question board. I found the clinical experience most beneficial
because i personally learn more with hands on.
...Overall I enjoyed these courses, some of them were easy and others challenged me which I enjoyed, the assignments made me really dig into the information that I was learning they went hand in hand with everything in the book, the free courses were a nice extra touch they went in depth on what was being taught, I didn't need much instructor interaction but they were all pretty prompt on grading assignments which I liked so I didn't have to wait long, what I found most beneficial was the externship portion,it
let me explore what I learned but also taught me some extra stuff that I did not know. I think the courses and the layout of the program were perfect for me and I wouldn't have changed anything.
...I thought it would be nice to mention that my clinical site offered me a job on my last day, which I happily accepted. Thank you for all you do in helping us students :)
...The textbook and assignments were all great! I particularly enjoyed some of the "real world" scenarios in the assignments. The assignments were a great way to give me a summary of what I read in the textbook. Although I needed to be taught all of the things on the clinical experience skill list, I still felt more confident doing them because I had already learned so much beforehand and had a basic understanding of why and how things were done. The instructors were helpful with their feedback and
answered my questions in a way that was easy to understand.
...I thought the program was an excellent one. All the materials I read and learned from were very relevant to my role as a VA. When I showed up to do the clinical I felt comfortable with my knowledge and that the team at the practice could tell I have had effective training. I had a great time completing the course and I am looking forward to my career as a VA. (Admin note: participant was hired by the practice)
...The assignments were very helpful. The textbook did a good job of explaining the "how" behind the concepts, but the assignments encouraged me to sit down and really think about the "why" behind the concepts. By understanding the underlying principles of the techniques described in the text, I was able to develop a sort of veterinary "common sense" which has been very helpful in my new career as a veterinary assistant.

...I would recommend this program to others. I feel like I learned a lot more than I expected and it gave me a lot of insight to the world of veterinary medicine. In some ways, it made me wish I had started this path a lot sooner! I’m grateful for what I have learned and feel better prepared to work with and help animals.
...Yes, I would recommend this program to others. I feel this course truly helped prepare me to start working at as veterinary assistant. In my opinion, veterinary assistant is a difficult position to begin with no experience or basic knowledge of what is expected.

I was impressed that the instructors are all veterinary professionals and valued their feedback and comments on each course assignment. It was helpful to me to receive that guidance from a real person who has had real experience in this industry.
