EQUINE: NURSING SKILLS FOR THE ADVANCED TECHNICIAN PART ONE

Course Overview

Advanced equine nursing requires advanced skills and knowledge. In order to provide this level of medical care, technicians must be fully trained in multiple areas such as pharmacology, laboratory diagnostics, technical and diagnostic procedures, reproductive management and anesthesia. With advanced training, technicians can prepare for procedures, follow through with patient care and educate horse owners. Practices can more effectively and efficiently provide high quality equine medical services.

Equine: Nursing Skills for the Advanced Technician: Part One is a 4-week course designed to provide advanced equine nursing training. Participants must work with horses, or have access to cases, in order to complete the assignments associated with this course.

Equine: Nursing Skills for the Advanced Technician: Part Two
is also a 4-week course and it continues building advanced equine nursing skills, adding neonatal care into the formula. Both courses include challenging case study assignments that will require the student to apply critical thinking skills, along with new concepts and knowledge acquired through course materials.

Participants should have equine basic training, either through the Equine: The Trail To Core Nursing Skills course, or similar, prior to enrolling in either course. Participants must work in a practice that evaluates horses to complete this course.

This course was formally titled Advanced Principles of Equine Nursing, Part One.
