Course Focus and Learning Objectives
Care and Treatment of Canine Osteoarthritis is a free veterinary CE offering. Osteoarthritis is a condition that is encountered in everyday veterinary practice. The main goal of this course is to briefly review definitions, what dogs might be susceptible, triggering conditions, and, most importantly, choices that veterinarians can provide to clients to help improve patient outcomes. A simple approach to the diagnosis and treatment will be provided, with emphasis on integrative veterinary medicine. After completion of this course, the student should be able to: define and describe the term osteoarthritis (OA) list the anatomical areas that osteoarthritis affects recognize the dogs that can be predisposed to develop OA discuss the importance of clear testing procedures during diagnosis such as palpations, assessing ROM, and pain scoring discuss OA more effectively with dog owners, focusing on enhancing the quality of life list several commonly used herbal treatments to help with canine osteoarthritis
